4LeggedFriendzee is not a traditional facility. Clients are out in playgroups based on age, size and temperament.
Therefore clients who wish to attend Daycare or use our Boarding services must be well socialized with other canine
friends and humans. Traditional Boarding facilities generally do not offer Daycare programs and often only allow
interation between dogs that live together and the majority of the time they spend boarding is in a kennel or crate.
Boarding clients enjoy the same play group interaction as Daycare clients for no extra charge.
4LeggedFriendzee accommodates a clients feeding schedule (including any special dietary needs) and administers
oral or topical medications free of charge.
We have over 10,000 square feet of outdoor play yard and a large indoor play area / lounge when the weather is
not in compliance. There are futons for them to lounge on and rubberized flooring which provides a softer surface for
joints and traction during play. We provide all the toys and games.
We opened 4LeggedFriendzee in April of 2004. After 3 years of planning and wishing, the 4th year we got serious
and planned and planned and planned some more! We have lived in Waterboro since 1999 and purchased this
property in November 2003. We are both Maine natives. We immediately went to work converting an existing
building into the boarding/daycare facility. We did most of the work ourselves along with a huge amount of help
from family and friends.
We own 3 Black Labrador Retrievers: Porter, Male 8 yrs (adopted at 8 mos), Bella, Female 7.5 yrs (adopted at 10
mos), and Maya, Female 4 yrs (adopted at 10 mos) Finally, Bruce said, "NO MORE" So now, I get my "fix" with all
of my doggie clients! Porter was my inspiration for changing careers - I truly find this to be the most personally
rewarding and satisfying "job" I've ever had. Yes, you get to hang out with dogs all day - but no it's not easy - it's
hard work and long hours 7 days a week - but it's worth it! Recently(he came home on Halloween 06) we added
another Lab to the family - a Yellow Lab named Truman from Coulee Creek Labradors in Texas. He is now 13wks
and doing wonderfully!
My favorite thing about the business is all the different dogs I get to meet - they all have their own distinct personalities.
I also like working with the different breeds - some I've never really had involvement with. Every day is different! I
love my 40 foot commute! I love owning my own business and being my own boss (although the dogs really do
RULE!). I love watching the dogs in playgroups having a complete ball and being so silly and playful.
